On “Objectives and policies”
This aspect relates to the role that top-management of the company must play. Many aspects of the requirements for top management roles in the ISM code and the other management standards are similar. Accordingly, the top management shall define policies relevant to the nature of the business and as a framework for objectives and targets. As a minimum, objectives and targets should demonstrate the company’s goals for health and safety protection, environmental concern, energy performance and so on. In addition to the above, specific objectives and targets are required by the various standards for compliance purposes (MariEMS 2017).
