Target Setting and Performance Criteria
“ISO 50001 does not prescribe specific performance criteria or target levels with respect to energy efficiency performance; however, it requires the organization to continually improve energy performance. For a shipping company this practically implies that it should select key performance indicators in order to demonstrate improved energy performance. IMO has developed the Energy Efficiency Operational Indicator (EEOI), that may be used as a performance indicator for a company when applying the EnMS to shipping.
